Tenants in Coleraine's Cross Glebe area have their say!
Participatory Budgeting in Coleraine
Triangle Housing had teamed up with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and the ‘Waste No Time Project’ to work on an exciting Participatory Budgeting event… This is part of our ongoing tenant participation initiative to encourage our tenants to get involved with Triangle and their local communities.
Last night was the first of two Participatory Budget events. Residents in Harpurs Hill, Coleraine were given the power to decide how money should be spent to improve their area… Residents had to submit their bids (ideas on how the money should be spent) then on vote night the ideas are pitched to the audience – made up of local residents and interested parties… everyone then has a chance to vote and the winners receive £300 each.
It was a great night, the atmosphere was fantastic and overall was a huge success! Winning bids included a raft of ideas from a Men’s Pool and Darts club, a Scooter Group, a Cross Glebe Football Club, a Gardening club for primary school kids and many more.
