Triangle photography takes top spot

Linda & Joel

Each year, ARC NI requests entries for their Focus Photo Competition. They use the pictures to create a photo bank that show people with a learning disability in a positive light - living, working, interacting, making friends and having fun in a range of environments and being involved in all aspects of their lives and their communities.

Knowing Triangle had a number of pictures that meet this criteria, Breena Hasson (Corporate Services), forwarded five potentials hoping some would make the shortlist. Two pictures taken by Management Officer Liam Lagan were short listed for the final vote. On Monday 4th April 2011 we received confirmation that Liam’s picture of Linda, playing connect 4, with support assistant Joel won the competition!

In addition to this we received word from The Social Economy Network that pictures taken by Jim Mc Keever from University of Ulster at Alternative Angles Ballymena won runner up in their photography competition to actively promote and raise the profile of the social economy and social enterprises with policy-makers, the general public and other key stakeholders. Jim’s pictures will form part of exhibition of fifteen images show casing work from all four students who took part in the competition and 13 winning social enterprises/SEN Members.

Congratulations to all involved
