NewsTriangle AGM 2011
Triangle Housing Association held its 34th Annual General Meeting on 23rd June 2011 in the Best Western Magherabuoy House Hotel, Portrush. This was attended by a large number of tenants, staff, shareholders, partner organisations and some local political representatives.
The Chairperson, Jacqueline McCollam welcomed everyone present and then within the report of the board of management praised the commitment and skill of the board and the organisation’s staff. Unfortunately two members of the board had decided to stand down at this AGM, namely Lorna Dougherty and Jenny Muir. Jacqueline thanked Lorna and Jenny for their many years of commitment and wished them both well in the future. Budget cuts had presented difficulties but Triangle had continued to expand and diversify its services both in the provision of social housing accommodation and appropriate support services to the vulnerable and marginalised within our community. The organisation now provides housing and support services throughout Northern Ireland to nearly 1300 tenants and service users, employing 280 staff.
Chris Alexander, Triangle’s Chief Executive Officer, presented a detailed summary of Triangle’s activities and performance during the year. The organisation’s business plan targets had largely been achieved. He praised the successes of the staff team and reflected on how their skill and commitment had been recognised by others in a range of awards during the past year. A full annual report was provided to all at the meeting and was available on the organisation’s website www.trianglehousing.org.uk. Again he stressed the challenges ahead in terms of budget cuts in the context of increasing service user need. In closing he thanked Jacqueline and the board for their support.
Mr John Sedgwick of Crawford Sedgwick & Co then presented the audited accounts. The organisation had managed it budgets well and was in a financially healthy position.
The process of nominating and electing Board members for the incoming year was then completed by shareholders. Jacqueline McCollam then closed the formal business and everyone was invited to remain behind for some tea. Pictures from the evening
