MEP Diane Dodds visits Alternative Angles

Diane Dodds' visit to Alternative Angles

Mrs. Diane Dodds, Member of European Parliament (MEP), paid a visit to Alternative Angles on Friday 30th April 2010 to see at first hand the work of the Progression to Employment Service.

MEP, Mrs. Dodds reflected 'During the visit I got an opportunity to see the impact European funding has had on the development of this Progression to Employment service.  The service users were confident, empowered and it was clear to see the pride they had in their work.  Many explained the skills developed in Alternative Angles have lead to employment opportunities and further inclusion within their communities. I hope the EU community will continue to support and play their role in funding vital services like this.'

Chris Alexander, Chief Executive of Triangle, commented, "We are grateful to the Health Trust and the Department for Employment and Learning for providing support and funding for crucial and successful projects like Alternative Angles. Hopefully their significant contributions will carry on into future years, despite pressures on the public purse."

Sam Vallelly, Assistant Director Learning Disabilities, Northern Trust added "This initiative with Triangle is one of a number of successful partnerships the Northern Trust has established as part of the delivery of our "Widening Choice and Opportunities" day services strategy. We will continue to provide a range of choices for adults with a learning disability as we strive towards the modernisation and reform of day services to meet individual disability need with the focus on ability rather than disability".

This project is part financed by the European Social Fund and the Department for Employment and Learning under the Northern Ireland ESF Programme 2007 - 2013.
