NewsGreen Light for Volunteers at Gateway Centre
What lies behind the Greenlight Gateway Centre? Ann McIllroy is an amazing lady. She has a daughter with hydrocephalus and having personal awareness of learning disability she not only dreamed of providing alternatives to day centres, but went one step further and created the Greenlight Centre five years ago. The Greenlight Centre provides employment and social inclusion opportunities for people with a learning disability through: - The Garden Centre - ‘Just A Second' Bric A Brac/Charity Shop - Coffee Shop - Can Recycling - Textile Recycling Ann's Vision Ann vision involves getting an additional poly tunnel for the production of organic vegetables. This would not only generate employment opportunities, but also provide much needed income. The Challenge Itself! With the help of a number of staff from Triangle, we were able to give Ann some assistance in fulfilling her dream for the Greenlight Gateway Centre. Thanks to the hard work of the Triangle staff volunteers, this was transformed to this and finally - this! Ann was delighted with the assistance and work done by our staff and commented, "We were delighted with the work carried out by the team. They have saved us up to £3000". Many thanks to all who helped us in this worthwhile challenge. We look forward to hearing of Ann achieving her vision in the near future! |
