Find a Home

Triangle Housing Association works with the Housing Executive and other registered Housing Associations in Northern Ireland to make it easier for you to apply for housing.

Any Housing Executive or Housing Association office will be able to provide details of the housing that is provided by social landlords in the area(s) in which you want to live.

How do I apply?

There is a Common Waiting List and Common Selection Scheme for all social rented housing in Northern Ireland.

Therefore, for all social housing which is let on a permanent basis, one single application form will allow you to be considered by all social landlords who have housing in the areas in which you want to live. It will also allow you to apply for specialised accommodation for people with support, care and special needs.

For applicants who live in privately owned or privately rented accommodation:

You can obtain a General Housing Application Form from Triangle Housing Association, any other registered Housing Association or the Housing Executive.

When you have completed the form you should return it to your local Housing Executive District Office together with proof of your identity.

On receipt of your application form you will receive a letter to acknowledge your application. A Housing Officer from the Housing Executive will then contact you to determine if you are eligible for social housing and to assess your housing circumstances under the rules of the Housing Selection Scheme. They will also discuss the areas in which you wish to be re-housed and provide advice and assistance on the various landlords operating in your areas of choice. Following the visit, you will receive written confirmation of the level of points awarded to you in accordance with the rules of the Housing Selection Scheme and waiting lists your name has been placed on by the Housing Executive.

For applicants who are currently a tenant of Triangle, the Housing Executive or any other Registered Housing Associations:

You can obtain a Transfer Application Form from your landlord, any other registered Housing Association or the Housing Executive.

When you have completed the form you should return it to your landlord with proof of your identity.

On receipt of your application form you will receive a letter to acknowledge your application. A Housing Officer from your current landlord’s housing department will then visit you to determine if you are eligible to apply for a transfer and to assess your housing circumstances under the rules of the Housing Selection Scheme. They will also discuss the areas in which you wish to be re-housed and provide advice and assistance on the various landlords operating in your areas of choice. Following the visit, you will receive written confirmation of the level of points awarded to you in accordance with the rules of the Housing Selection Scheme and waiting lists your name has been placed on by your landlord.

Can I apply from outside Northern Ireland?

Your eligibility for housing in Northern Ireland and your housing needs will be assessed in the same way as any other applicant under the rules of the Housing Selection Scheme. However, as the Housing Executive is unable to carry out a home visit, you will be asked to complete a separate self-assessment form. Your housing needs will be assessed by the Housing Executive responsible for the area in which you wish to live and if you are eligible you will be placed on the Waiting List for the areas and landlords of your choice.
